So you’re finally ready to start taking care of your hair? It’s about time! Too many of us don’t know how to take care of our hair. Far too often we label it as difficult and move on to the next wig lol. Listen.. I’m all for a good weave, but you gotta give some tlc to your natural hair as well.
There is no pill, serum, or oil that will make your hair grow overnight. Some products will work better than others, however, if you want long beauty healthy hair the only way to obtain it is through routinely taking care of your hair.
I found this video on YouTube and it’s pretty similar to what my wash day looks like. (expect I don’t normally blow dry my hair – I do twist, braids, or something else easy that doesn’t require heat). This video should give you an idea of what your wash day should look like.
Here’s what your weekly routine should look like..
- Pre-Poo and detangle (I use conditioner, and do this in the shower, but you can you oil or whatever product you’d like)
- Wash your hair (with shampoo or co-wash)
- Deep condition (preferably with heated cap for deeper penetration – I LOVE this deep conditioner)
- Apply leave in conditioner (I think for best results you should do this in shower while hair is super wet)
- Apply Oil (My current favorites are avocado and coconut oil. Use the LCO or LOC method which works best for you. I use LCO method. (Liquid Conditioner Oil)
- Put hair in a low maintenance or protective style
Things to keep in mind…
- Your hair should be done in sections. I put mines in four using hair clips. This makes doing your hair so much easier
- Refrain from using heat (unless deep conditioning)
- Always finger detangle. Only use comb if necessary. I almost never use combs unless parting
- Trim ends if you have excessive shedding
- If you don’t wash your hair with shampoo often you’ll want to use a clarifying shampoo at least 2xs a month (every other week)
- The most important part of this process is consistency and patience

Products you need
- Deep conditioner (this is my holy grail deep conditioner and only one I (currently) use!)
- Shampoo & conditioner (any kind will work – I like Fructis products)
- Plastic shower cap (for under heated cap)
- Heated cap (a must have! – I use this one)
- Clips for sectioning
- Leave-in conditioner
- Oil (lately I’ve been using avocado and coconut oil – mixed in with a few other essential oils)
- Spray bottle
- Shears (don’t cut your hair with regular scissors)
- Hair drain catcher (you might think you can overlook this one, but trust me, if you washing your hair regularly you will need this)
Protective styles and hair inspiration
Personally, I love a good protective style. I routinely keep my hair in protective styles for the most part. Some will say you need protective styles and others swear by wash and go’s. I think it really comes down to preference and what your styles you hair work best in.
The key to growing out your natural hair is to take care of it consistently by making sure you keep your hair moisturized and your scalp in good health.
What do you ladies think about these styles? Also, lmk if you want me to do more posts on natural hair care. Taking care of my hair and watching it grow is one of my passions, so I’m always down to help other women learn to love and manage their hair as well

People in my area don’t know that fast growth shampoos (of course with no sulfates, no parabens or DEA) are even a thing. People are now able to have longer hair and attain more options. For sure worth considering.
When you’re thinking about alopecia, damaged hair, avoiding hair disorders, fast hair growth, hair care normally, the same rules actualize.
As a general rule, you will want to stay away from hair products and treatments that use chemicals like parabens, DEA and sulfates.
What is beneficial for your hair is beneficial for your skin as well.
Clearly your content on this page is so useful for multiple reasons. It stays away from the common pitfalls and pitfalls most fall into: buying horrible alternatives. Keep up the great content!
